- Madison Junior High School's bowling team was runner-up at the Middle School Bowling Regionals held at New Castle on Saturday.
By virtue of their second place regional finish, the Bears now advance to the state finals on May 18 in Lafayette. Only the top two teams from each of the state's 10 regionals advance to the state finals.
Individually, Alyssa Bush bowled a scratch score 507 series to place first in the seventh grade girls singles. Kollier Pavy bowled a scratch 644 series to place second in the eighth grade boys singles.
Other Madison bowling team members and their scratch score were: Brady Adler, 609; Jamin Smith, 600 and Alexis Brunck, 435.
- Big Oaks National Wildlife Refuge is open to recreational fishing at 165-acre Old Timbers Lake on Mondays, Fridays and the second and fourth Saturdays of each month from April through November.
