- Switzerland County's jayvee girls basketball team opened the 2013-14 season with a 17-13 win over Southwestern Tuesday in Vevay.

Taylor Jordan led Switzerland with six points and Whitley Schirmer had four. Michaela Mahoney led Southwestern with four and Kelsi Brierly had three.

Switzerland (1-0) visits Madison Friday. Southwestern (0-1) visits Eastern Saturday.

- Shawe's junior varsity girls basketball team outscored Christian Academy 19-1 in the third quarter en route to a 42-13 win at home on Tuesday.

Claire Higgins led Shawe with 11 points in just one quarter. Megg Hensler scored eight.

Shawe (1-0) visits Providence Thursday.

- Season tickets for Madison High School boys and girls basketball are now on sale in the Madison athletic office.

Cost is $33 for each sport. MCHS students can buy a Pep Club ticket good for all games for $33. The athletic office is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

- Madison High School's boys basketball teams will hold their intra-squad Soap Game starting at 6 p.m. Thusday. Teams from the entire program, seventh grade through varsity, will participate.

In addition to the games, the team has cleaned out the uniform closet and will be selling old game uniforms from as far back as the Matthews era. Uniforms will be for sale.
