Madison senior golfer Carson Wattenbarger finished fifth overall and led the Cubs to a runner-up finish at the Floyd Central Invitational on Saturday at Valley View Golf Course in Floyds Knobs.

Madison shot a 330 and tied for second with Evansville North. Center Grove won the invitational with a 319.

The rest of the team results were: Providence, third, 333; Jasper, fourth, 334; Columbus East, fifth, 335; New Albany, sixth, 340; Floyd Central, seventh, 347; Bedford North Lawrence, eighth, 351; and Seymour, ninth, 375.

Wattenbarger shot an eight-over par 79, earning top honors for the Cubs. Jordan Griffith was closely behind with an 81 while Dylan Bilz and Carson Cheatham each carded an 85. Austin Mahoney rounded out the scoring with an 88.

Connor Kiefer carded an 89 in a non-scoring round.

Madison hosts Jeffersonville and Silver Creek today at Sunrise Golf Course.

Rebs' Chitwood medalist in win at Belterra

Southwestern boys golf earned a tri-match victory over Switzerland County and Rising Sun on Friday at Belterra Resort and Casino Golf Course.

The Rebels carded a nine-hole score of 189. Rising Sun was second at 199 while Switzerland County shot a 228.

Southwestern's Brynen Chitwood was the medalist with a 5-over-40.

Ashton Hill carded a 41, Zach Kelly shot a 49 and Michael Perry had a 59 to cap the scoring.

Southwestern competes against Scottsburg today at Westwood Golf Course.
