Madison's Hayden McMahon and all three Cubs' relay teams reached the sectional finals after strong swims in Thursday's preliminaries of the IHSAA Floyd Central Sectional.
McMahon, a senior, finished third in the 100-yard freestyle in 51.00, less than half a second behind the leader, Karol Schmuck of Jeffersonville. All eight swimmers in the finals finished less than three seconds of the top.
Flynn Moore, Calvin Willhite, Tate Turner and Trajen Jenkins finished fourth in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:38.09. McMahon, Turner, Sean Brink and Grant Ward were fifth in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:46.80. Ward, Willhite, Moore and McMahon were sixth in the 200-yard medley relay in 1:48.02.
"To say we had fantastic swims tonight is an understatement," Madison coach Stacy Crawley said.
