Cubs' Perry, Macon named HHC first team

Madison's boys basketball has landed two players on the Hoosier Hills Conference first team and two more as honorable mentions in voting by the league coaches.

The Cubs' guard tandem of senior Landon Perry and junior Nick Macon were both voted to the Hoosier Hills Conference first team while seniors Tyler Manaugh and Carson Wattenbarger were named honorable mention.
Perry, a 5-foot-9 guard, averaged 17.9 points per game in 2013-14 while Macon, a 5-11 guard, averaged 14.7 points per game. Wattenbarger, a 6-foot-4 forward, averaged 11.8 points and Manaugh, a 6-foot-7 center, averaged 9.6 points.
Madison (14-6) tied for third in the HHC in 2013-14 with a 4-3 league record.
Other players named Hoosier Hills Conference first team included: Leondre McBirth and Javen Reeves, both of conference champion New Albany; Bryce Lienhoop and Connor Umphrees, both of runner-up Columbus East; Drew Ellis and Keenan Williams, both of Jeffersonville; Brad Hunt and Adrian Kirchner, both of Jennings County; and Blaze Byrer of Bedford North Lawrence for a total of 11 honorees.
Other honorable mentions included: Jeff Byrne and DeAnthony Warren, both of New Albany; Parker Chitty and Nate Nolting, both of Columbus East; Morgan Cummings and Braxton Day, both of Bedford North Lawrence; Chase Salmon of Seymour and Demarre Sims of Jeffersonville.
New Albany head coach Jim Shannon was named coach of the Year after leading the Bulldogs to a 6-1 mark in the HHC and 18-7 overall.
