Cubs fall to Batesville on senior night

Madison lost to Batesville in its final dual swim meet of the season Tuesday on senior night.
The scores in the two meets were nearly identical. Batesville won the boys meet 102-68 and the girls meet 102-66.
"It is always tough to see these girls and boys go after spending so many years with them," Madison coach Stacy Crawley said. "On the bright side, we did have several great swims. Taylor Phillips and Hayden McMahon both won the 50 free, Tess Lemen won the 100 fly and the 500 free, Hayden also won the 100 free, and Keelin Watkins won the 100 breaststroke. Also the team of Taylor Phillips, Amber Umila, Lauren Anderson, and Keelin Watkins won the 200 free relay.
Top finishes for the Madison girls were: Taylor Phillips, first, 50 free, 29.37 and third, 100 back, 1:17.51; Tess Lemen, first, 100 fly, 1:10.16 and first, 500 free, 6:27.22; Keelin Watkins, first, 100 breast, 1:21.87 and second, 200 IM, 2:41.04; Phillips, Amber Umila, Lauren Anderson and Watkins, first, 200 free relay, 1:57.55; Anderson, second, 200 free, 2:20.58 and second, 100 free, 1:05.98; Umila, Watkins, Lemen and Phillips, second, 200 medley relay, 2:11.96; and Hannah Riley, third, 200 free, 2:37.04 and third, 500 free, 6:55.34.
Top finishes for the Madison boys were: Hayden McMahon, first, 50 free, 23.51 and first, 100 free, 52.96; Sean Brink, second, 200 free, 2:14.72 and second, 500 free, 6:03.55; Calvin Willhite, second, 200 IM, 2:28.45 and second, 100 breast, 1:10.24; Flynn Moore, second, 100 fly, 1:05.64; Grant Ward, second, 100 back, 1:06.14 and third, 200 IM, 2:29.20; Ward, Willhite, Hayden McMahon and Moore, second, 200 medley relay, 1:55.78; Willhite, Tate Turner, Moore and Hayden McMahon, second, 200 free relay, 1:44.81; Brink, Noah Miller, Ward and Turner, second, 400 free relay, 4:11.39; Gabe McMahon, third, 100 fly, 1:12.30; and Trajen Jenkins, third, 100 breast, 1:19.88.
Madison's boys compete in the Hoosier Hills Conference championships at Bedford North Lawrence on Saturday. The girls' next meet will be the IHSAA Sectional next week.
