Cubs golf takes third

Madison's golf team came away with a third-place finish in the Batesville Invitational at the Hillcrest Country Club on Saturday.
The Cubs shot a 324 to finish 13 strokes back of top-ranked Columbus North, which won the event with a 311. Connersville was second at 321 and East Central finished fourth with a 339.
Jordan Griffith led Madison, shooting an 18-hole total of 79. Teammate Carson Wattenbarger fired an 80 and Carson Cheatham and Connor Kiefer each carded 83s to round out the scoring. Dylan Bilz shot a non-scoring 85.
Madison hosts 18th-ranked Providence and East Central on Thursday at Sunrise Golf Course.
Short-handed Shawe plays at North Central Invitational
Shawe's undermanned golf team competed in the North Central Golf Invitational at the Coffin Golf Club in Indianapolis on Saturday.
Shawe was unable to place in the event with a team score due to having only three golfers participate. Park Tudor won the invitational with a team score of 302.
Joey Mingione led the Hilltoppers with an 85 to place 17th overall. Alex Reuss was five strokes back with a 90 and Alex Reuss carded a 105.
Lawrence North's Christian Geiger shot a 70 to claim medalist honors. Plainfield's Johnny Gulley and North Central's Jackson Juerling tied for second with 71s. Park Tudor's Dustin Honigford and Will Clark finished fourth and fifth with scores of 73 and 74, respectively.
Shawe hosts Rising Sun and Crothersville today at Sunrise Golf Course.
