Madison's swim teams had a strong showing in a dual meet at South Dearborn on Thursday.

The boys picked up nine wins and rolled to a 121-41 win. The girls had four wins in a close 92-78 loss.

"(It was) a great meet for both boys and girls," Madison coach Stacy Crawley said. "The girls came up a little shy tonight, but some great swims for them. The boys swam a fantastic meet with Calvin Willhite swimming a lifetime best in both the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke. Trajen Jenkins cut over seven seconds in his 200 IM finish and Grant Ward swam a lifetime best in the 100 backstroke."

Southwestern girls 2nd, boys 3rd at Lawrenceburg quad meet

Southwestern's swim teams competed in a quad meet at Lawrenceburg Thursday with the girls placing second and the boys third.

Batesville won both meets.

"We had 15 best times tonight, which really surprised us," Southwestern coach Shelly Hamilton said. "The kids are really tired right now, and we had a long practice with a lot of fly last night. We know they are sore, and we haven't rested at all. We still have three more meets for the girls and four for the boys before their sectionals."

Jordan Worcester picked up Southwestern's only win when she won the girls 200-yard freestyle in 2:18.04.

Shawe's Liz Grote won the girls 100-yard butterfly in 1:06.48 and was second in the girls 200-yard individual medley in 2:28.64.

Other top three finishes for the Southwestern girls were: Lakin Henderson, second, 100 fly, 1:16.24 and second, 100 breast, 1:20.30; Worcester, second, 500 free, 6:15.97; Worcester, Meredith Webber, Henderson and Gianna Bennett, second, 400 free, 4:23.07; Rebekah Anderson, third, 500 free, 6:38.34; Bennett, third, 100 breast, 1:21.86; and Zaynah Watson, Sara Judge, Jennah Butters and Anderson, fourth, 200 free relay, 2:13.80.

Team scores for the girls meet were: Batesville, 111; Southwestern, 67; Lawrenceburg, 66; Milan, 41; and Shawe, 12.

Team scores for the boys meet were: Batesville, 145; Lawrenceburg, 53; Southwestern, 49; and Milan, 44.

Southwestern hosts Switzerland County, Shawe and Scottsburg on Saturday.
