Amanda Detmer finished second and Madison placed fifth as a team at the annual Fuzzy Zoeller Invitational played at Champions Pointe Golf Course on Saturday.
Detmer, a senior, shot a 71 to finish tied for second. Abby Wynn had an 83, Kyla Johnson an 85 and LeAnn Fox a 98.
As a team, the Lady Cubs shot a 37, 41 strokes behind winner Evansville North which had a 296. Evansville Memorial finished with a 315, Columbus North had a 318 and Floyd Central a 333.
"I was extremely pleased with our golfers today. Our scores are going in the right direction," Madison coach Dale Crafton said.
"Amanda remains consistent and came in second against some really talented opponents," Crafton added. "Abbi and Kyla had two super rounds of golf, arguably the best 18 hole rounds of their career. LeAnn's game is improving on a daily basis, mostly due to her willingness to accept advice on how to prepare mentally for a match."
Madison returns to Champions Pointe on Tuesday to face Providence.
