Dallas Gibson had a monster double-double of 32 points and 13 rebounds to lead Carroll County to a 79-46 boys basketball win Monday at Williamstown.
Gibson, a 6-foot-4 senior forward, was a dominate force all game. He hit 12 shots from the floor, was 8-for-9 from the free-throw line and also had two blocks.
"Everybody played well and everybody contributed," Carroll County head coach Carroll Yager said. "But in the end when you look at Dallas' stats he just had a tremendous game."
Carroll County wasted little time in taking control of the game. The Panthers jumped out to a 27-13 lead after the first quarter and led 44-19 at halftime.
One of the big keys to the game was defense, particularly the one-on-one defense played by Carroll's Austin Crowell on Williamstown's David Jump. Jump scored 12 points for the Demons, a far cry from his game-high 27-point performance against the Panthers last year.
"Jump hit nine 3-pointers against us last year. He was 9-for-11 in that game," Yager said. "He had only one field goal against Austin today. Austin just played really good defense."
Along with Gibson, Trey Boles scored 13 points for Carroll and Brandon Stewart added nine. Nine players in all scored for the Panthers.
Drew Harris led Williamston with 13 points.
At 3-0, Carroll County is off to its best start since going 9-0 to open the 2004-05 season - a team that finished the season with an 18-8 record.
"We're tickled to death with the way we've played," Yager said. "We're playing very well."
The Panthers visit defending District champion Owen County on Thursday for the first of three-straight 31st District games. Carroll hosts Henry County on Monday and hosts Gallatin County on Dec. 14 in other District matchup.
