HC women picked 2nd in HCAC poll

Three of Hanover College's fall sports programs made appearances in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference preseason polls this week.
The Hanover women's cross country team tallied 90 votes and was picked to finish second in the HCAC. Manchester was selected to win the HCAC with 97 votes.
Predicted to finish behind Hanover are Franklin (83), Anderson (69), Bluffton (55), Rose-Hulman (53), Earlham (38), Defiance (35), Mount St. Joseph (17) and Transylvania (13).
Returning All-HCAC selections Mackenzie Dye and Claire Hinshaw, along with sophomore Rachel Smith were named to the HCAC Runners to Watch list.
Collecting 52 votes, the Hanover men's cross country team is predicted to finish in the middle of the conference pack in sixth place. Manchester's 99 votes tagged them as the predicted HCAC front runner. Rose-Hulman (89), Franklin (81), Defiance (70) and Bluffton (57) round out places two through five.
Behind Hanover in the poll are Anderson (42), Earlham (30), Mount St. Joseph (16) and Transylvania (14).
Junior Logan Wells, sophomore Ben Franke and senior Brendan Kelly are the returning Panthers on the HCAC Runners to Watch list.
The HCAC women's tennis poll also came out with Hanover's 56 votes placing them in fourth. Rose-Hulman was tabbed the conference favorite with 75 votes while Transylvania came in second place with 70 votes.
Franklin, the defending HCAC champions, received 61 votes, and is predicted to finish third.
Behind the Panthers in the tennis poll are Anderson (47), Manchester (41), Earlham (28), Defiance (17) and Mount St. Joseph (10).
Hanover junior and 2011 Southwestern graduate Kelsey Jones was put on the HCAC Players to Watch list. Other Panthers selected were senior Dani Miller and sophomore Alex Taylor.
