Tim Bass and Brian Gunter each totaled career highs to lead Hanover's men's basketball squad to an 89-66 victory over Anderson Wednesday on the road.
Bass, a sophomore from Indianapolis, netted a career-high 29 points and Gunter, a senior from Indianapolis, added a personal-best 19 points to fuel Hanover's fifth-straight victory and fourth in a row against the Ravens.
Hanover (10-6, 7-2 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference) blew open a tight contest with a 33-9 run during a 10-minute span late in the contest.
Tied at 44-44 with 13:51 left, Bass scored 11 points, while Gunter and senior Drake Hendricks added eight points each as the Panthers surged ahead 77-53 with 3:54 on the clock.
Freshman Ethan Black scored five points to help Hanover increase the margin to 28 points (89-61) down the stretch.
Both squads shot better than 50 percent from the floor. Hanover was 34-of-64 (53.1 percent), while Anderson connected on 26-of-51 attempts from the field (51 percent).
Anderson earned a 33-26 rebounding advantage. Sophomore center Desmond Marks nabbed a game-high eight boards while Gunter collected six.
Cody Jackson scored 20 points to pace Anderson, which fell to 7-9 overall and 3-6 in the league.
The Ravens had just seven players in uniform and played without guard Phil Hogan, who was leading the Heartland Conference in scoring (26.9 points per game) prior to an injury last week.
Hanover hosts Defiance (Ohio) Saturday.
