Hanover women beat Quakers 67-50 on road

Hanover's women's basketball scored its 10th Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference win of the season 67-50 over Earlham Saturday in Richmond.
Courtney Prater scored 13 points and Alicia Hopkins added 11 for Hanover (16-5, 10-4 HCAC) -for the Panthers' sixth consecutive season with 10 or more conference wins.
Trailing by four points in the opening three minutes, Hanover took control with a 15-0 run over a three-minute stretch. Natalie Morse scored seven straight points and Hopkins added eight to convert a 6-2 deficit into a 17-6 lead with 14 minutes left in the first half.
Hanover increased the margin to 16 points (24-8) midway through the period and led 40-24 at halftime.
Prater converted a three-point play and followed with a bucket inside to push Hanover up by 21 (45-24) just two minutes into the second period.
After Earlham had cut the margin to 18 points (45-27), Prater answered with two buckets inside and Megan Caudill added a jumper and two free throws to spark a 10-1 run that put Hanover on top 55-28 with 15:30 to play.
The Quakers trimmed the lead back to 18 points (59-41) with a 13-4 run, but Jade Tubb and Hopkins countered with back-to-back 3-pointers for a 26-point 67-41 lead with 4:40 left.
Hanover did not score again, but Earlham managed just nine points the rest of the way as the Panthers won their sixth straight against the Quakers.
The Panthers hit 26-of-63 field goals (41.3 percent), including 3 three-pointers. Earlham was 17-of-49 (34.7 percent) and made just 1-of-10 beyond the arc.
The Quakers outscored Hanover 15-7 at the foul line by hitting 15-of-27 (55.6 percent) to Hanover's 7-of-13 (53.8 percent).
Kasin Spay netted a game-high 18 points for Earlham, which dropped to 3-18 overall and 2-12 HCAC.
Hanover vists Anderson on Wednesday.
