TOKYO, Japan - Madison's Bryan Bullington was on the wrong end of a home-run barrage by the Yomiuri Giants Wednesday as the Hiroshima Carp lost 8-4 at the Tokyo Dome.
Playing before 46,315, Bullington lasted just four innings against the power-hitting Giants, giving up five runs - all earned - on seven hits and a hit batter with one strikeout in 61 pitches.
The big blow came in the bottom of the second inning when Hisayoshi Chono launched a three-run homer off Bullington. The 1999 Madison graduate then gave up solo homers to Hayato Sakamoto in the third and Yoshinobu Takahashi in the fourth.
Bullington left game trailing 5-1. He is now 4-8 in 18 starts with a 2.99 ERA.
