Madison's softball team dropped a Hoosier Hills Conference game 6-1 to Bedford North Lawrence Saturday in Bedford.

Madison scored its lone run in the top of the fourth inning to lead 1-0 but the Stars came back with a run in both the fourth and fifth innings to lead 2-1.

Bedford North Lawrence added four runs in the bottom of the sixth for the eventual 6-1 final margin.

"I felt we were ready to go today when we got off the bus," Madison coach Tony Ralston said. "We did a real nice job defensively and turned three double plays that kept us in the game. In the bottom of the sixth if we had the three 50-50 calls go our way we get out of the inning still down only 2-1. At the end of the day we didn't score enough to win."

The Lady Cubs managed only two hits in the contest. Bree Barnes and Cadie Povaleri each had a base knock. Povaleri added the lone RBI.

Hannah Bickers took the loss in the circle for Madison. Bickers pitched the first five innings, giving up two earned runs on eight hits while walking two and striking out three.
