Carroll County's district champion boys soccer team will host Oldham County in the opening round of the KHSAA Eighth Region Tournament tonight in Carrollton.

The Panthers, champions of last week's 31st District Tournament earned the right to host a first round game as one of four district winners in the region. Oldham County (8-9) is the runner-up of the 29th District tournament, having lost 2-1 on penalty kicks at South Oldham.

The Panthers (15-7) beat Henry County 10-0 in the semifinals and host Owen County 2-0 in the championship to win their first ever district title.

Game time for Carroll and Oldham is 7 p.m. today at Panther Field in Carrollton.

Tonight's other opening round boys regional soccer games include 32nd District runner-up Walton-Verona (10-7-2) at South Oldham (11-8-2) at 6:30 p.m.; Owen County (13-10) at 30th District champion Collins (16-1-2) at 7 p.m. and 30th District runner-up Anderson County (10-10) at 32nd District champion Simon Kenton (13-6-2) at 6 p.m.

The regional volleyball draw was also held this weekend with 31st District champion Carroll County (18-12) drawing Anderson County (19-16) in a game set for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Shelby County.

North Oldham (25-10), the 29th District champion, will open the regional at 6:30 tonight against Walton-Verona (21-13) with 30th District champ Shelby County (18-6) to play Henry County (7-25) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday's Carroll-Anderson game will be followed by Simon Kenton (25-12) and South Oldham (22-13).

The district title was also the first ever for Carroll volleyball.
