Lady Cubs tie school record in warmup to sectional

Madison's girls golf team tied the school record for a nine-hole round with a dominating four-way win at Sunrise Golf Course on Tuesday.
The Lady Cubs fired a 156, tying the mark they set two weeks ago and, in the process, finished off an undefeated regular season.
South Ripley finished a distant second 73 strokes behind Madison with a 229. Switzerland County was third with a 238 and Southwestern finished fourth at 240.
Amanda Detmer's medalist streak continued as the junior shot an even-par 36. Hannah Holt was two strokes back with a 38 and Abbi Wynn found herself in the 30's for the first time with a three-over 39. Carmen Velasco rounded out the scoring with a 43.
In a non-scoring round, LeAnn Fox shot a 45, Kyla Johnson a 49 and Jordan Dean a 53.
Kelsey Reeves led Southwestern with a 52, Kyla Harsin had a 62, Beth Reno a 55 and Megan Morris a 71.
Switzerland County was led by Susie Reyes and Kelsi Konkle, each of whom had 58s. McKayli Scudder shot a 62 and Kayla Hall had a 63.
Mckenzie Black led South Ripley with a 50, Kylin Brandt had a 56, Taylor Wrightsman had a 58 and Abigail Matthews had a 64.
On Monday, Southwestern fell to Silver Creek in a dual match at Hidden Creek Golf Course in Sellersburg.
Silver Creek cruised to a 37-stroke victory over the Rebels, scoring a 189 to Southwestern's 226.
Reeves led Southwestern with a 48. Harsin shot a 53, Reno a 58, and Morris a 67 to conclude the scoring.
Silver Creek's Charlotte Seaton was medalist with a 40. Other Dragons in the scoring were Kaela Roberts 47, Lily Smith 50 and Emily Christman 52. Anna McGrath also shot a 52 and Ashton Crutcher had a 58.
Madison and Switzerland County await Saturday's IHSAA sectional at Sunrise Golf Course. Southwestern hosts South Decatur, Jac-Cen-Del and South Ripley on Thursday at Spring Hills Golf Course.
Lady Raiders beat Henry County to close regular season 12-3-1
Trimble County's girls golf team scored a 202-211 win over Henry County Tuesday at the Henry County Country Club in New Castle, Ky.
Kate Staples led the Raiders with a 43 while Megan Turner carded a 50, Hayley Baker shot a 53 and Brooke Huff fired a 56.
Alex Lawhorn shot a 57 and Heather Liter a 71 in non-scoring rounds.
Trimble closed out the regular season with a 12-3-1 record. The Raiders' next match will be the North Central Kentucky Conference championships Tuesday at Fairway Golf Course.
