Southwestern's record-setting girls tennis team closed out the regular season in dominating fashion, defeating Lawrenceburg 5-0 on senior night in Hanover.

The Lady Rebels made quick work of Lawrenceburg in their five matches, winning 60 of the 64 sets against the Lady Tigers for their school-record 18th win of the season.

"Good way to finish up the season strong on senior night for our three awesome seniors, Alex Drossart, Cheyenne McKinley and Sydnie McKinley," Southwestern coach Kenny Garrett said. "Those three seniors have a combined record of 125-50 for their careers and are 45-6 this season. They have been very valuable to this tennis program."

Results were: Singles - No. 1 Abbey Garrett (SW) d. Jackie Schornick (LB) 6-1, 6-2; No. 2 Sarah Anderson (SW) d. Sydney Romines (LB) 6-0, 6-0; No. 3 Cheyenne McKinley (SW) d. Maddy McMukllen 6-0, 6-1; Doubles - No. 1 Jordan Worcester, Kearstin Bruther (SW) d. Phoebe Biederhake, Savi Frizzel (LB) 6-0, 6-0; No. 2 Sydnie McKinley (SW), Alex Drossart (SW) d. Keri Collins, Alissa Barnes (LB) 6-0, 6-0.

"We finish up the season with a nice 18-2 record and now we have to go prove that we are the best team in the Greensburg sectional," Garrett said.

The 18 wins eclipsed the Southwestern record for wins in a season by three and the two losses ties for the least in school history.
