Madison golf fourth at BNL Invitational

Madison finished fourth out of 18 teams in the highly competitive Bedford North Lawrence Golf Invitational at Otis Park Golf Course on Saturday.
The Cubs, ranked 13th in the most recent coaches' poll, shot a 320 team score. Top-ranked Columbus North won the invitational with a a 297. Ninth-ranked Jasper was second at 314 and Providence, which received honorable mention votes, finished third at 319.
Madison's Jordan Griffith tied with four other golfers for fourth among individuals with a 76. Carson Wattenbarger was two strokes back with a 78. Dylan Bilz and Carson Cheatham fired 83s and Mitchell Seng carded an 89 for Madison.
Columbus North's Christian Fairbanks, an Indiana University signee, was the tourney medalist with a two-under-par 70 and Bloomington North's Quinn Smith carded a 73 and Columbus North's Jacob Coffey had a 74.
Team scores were: Columbus North 296, Jasper 314, Providence 319, Madison 320, Bloomington North 325, Jennings County 337, Mitchell 338, Evansville North 341, Columbus East 343, Bloomington South 344, Shelbyville 349, Brownstown 350, Paoli 350, Bedford North Lawrence "A" 351, Seymour 365, Bedford North Lawrence "B" 379, Edgewood 379 and West Washington 447.
The Cubs compete against Switzerland County and Jac-Cen-Del today at North Branch Golf Course in Greensburg.
Rebs runner-up at Trinity
Southwestern's boys golf team competed in the Trinity Lutheran Invitational on Saturday at the Shadowood Golf Course in Seymour.
The Rebels were runner-up of the team event with a 368. Rising Sun won the match with a 343.
Brynen Chitwood led the Rebels with a 90. Ashton Hill and Colton Shepherd were a stroke back with 91s and Michael Perry carded a 96. Stacey Noble shot a 97 in a non-scoring round.
Southwestern visits Hoosier Links Golf Course in Milan Thursday to play Milan and Switzerland County.
Shawe plays at Heartland
Shawe boys golf competed in the Bishop Chatard Harve Sutton Memorial Tournament on Saturday at the Heartland Crossing Golf Course in Indianapolis with the Hilltoppers finishing 14th.
Joey Mingione led Shawe with an individual score of 85. Alex Reuss was three strokes back at 88. Eamon Fry shot a 107 and Collin Hambrick carded a 128.
Sam Hall of Heritage Christian was the medalist with a two-under 70 and Chris Allman of Perry Meridian was second at even-par-72.
Team scores were: Mooresville 305, Perry Meridian 319, Roncalli 320, Heritage Christian 324, Park Tudor 326, Lawrence Central 328, Martinsville 330, Brebeuf 331, Franklin Community 333, Fishers 333, Bishop Chatard 333, Guerin Catholic 333, Southport 366 and Shawe 408. Whiteland did not field a complete team.
Shawe plays Rising Sun and Oldenburg today at Hillcrest Golf Course in Batesville.
