Madison's Jordan Partee saw his stellar junior season end with a 3-2 loss in the opening round of the IHSAA State Wrestling Finals on Friday at Bankers' Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

Partee, the ninth-ranked wrestler in the state at 152 pounds, battled DeKalb senior Conner Brummett (34-3) to a scoreless tie through one period.

Partee got the upper hand early in the second period when he escaped a Brummett hold for a 1-0 lead. The 12th-ranked Brummett scored a takedown with 59 seconds left to move ahead 2-1 but Partee closed out the second period with another escape, this time with 18 seconds left, to tie the bout at 2-2.

Brummett got an escape of his own 13 seconds into the third period to go ahead 3-2 and it proved to be the match-winner. Partee was unable to score either the equalizing point or the pin and suffered the defeat.

Brummett will now take on eighth-ranked Jackson Bennett (37-5) of Hamilton Southeastern in today's quarterfinal round. Partee ends the season with a 48-4 record.
