Heading into this week's game with visiting Corbin, Trimble County did not appear to match up very well on paper.
On Friday, the Raiders found out that the clash on the field would prove to be a mismatch as well, losing 55-6 in Bedford.
Corbin, 3-0 and ranked ninth in this week's 3A poll, used a deep roster, speed, and size to dominate a much smaller Trimble County team throughout the game.
The Redhounds scored four times in the first quarter.
Just 40 seconds into the game, tailback Jake Coppock took a handoff from quarterback Corey Taylor, running 18 yards into the end zone.
Coppock capitalized on the ground again with 6:02 to go, sprinting 54 yards for his second score of the night. He followed the play up by running for a two-point conversion, giving Corbin a 14-0 lead.
Corbin then turned to its passing game. After a Trimble County interception on the previous series, Taylor connected with Cai Jackson on a 32-yard touchdown pass. Evan Grissell's extra point failed.
The final score of the first quarter came on special teams. With the clock hitting all zeroes, Taylor Waddle returned Tanner Hallgrath's booming punt for 58 yards and a touchdown.
Grissell's extra point once again failed to go through, as the Redhounds led 26-0 after one.
After Taylor connected with Jackson for the second time on a 26 yard pass play to open the Corbin scoring in the second quarter, Trimble County was set to string together some good offensive plays.
Raiders' quarterback Tevin Taylor ran for two first downs, but the Redhounds quickly extinguished the Raiders surge.
Up 33-0, Corbin called off the dogs late in the second quarter, bringing in a second string that was just as talented as the first string.
With 5:53 to play in the first half, Tucker Jewell ran from nine yards out to put six more points on the board and Grissell's extra point put the finishing touches on a 40-0 first half.
With the running clock in effect, the third quarter flew by, but not before the Redhounds second string continued to register points.
At the 5:41 mark, Dillon Brock ran up the middle for a 23 yard touchdown run and Jacob Moore's extra point made it 47-0.
A little more than a minute later, Corbin scored on what was easily the most bizarre play of the night.
With Trimble County on its own 25-yard-line, Taylor fumbled on a quarterback keeper, which was picked up by a fellow Raider on the field. Instead of diving on the ball to end the play, the Trimble County player proceeded to run with the ball to his own end zone, recording a safety, and giving Corbin two more points.
Corbin ended the third quarter fumbling the football on the goal line, only to have offensive lineman John Love dive on the loose pigskin in the end zone. Moore's extra point was no good and the Redhounds led, 55-0.
With 25 seconds left in the game, Taylor hit Bo Hawkes on a slant pass, which Hawkes took for 76 yards and a score.
While the extra point was no good, Trimble County ended the night on a high note, despite the 55-6 final score.
Corbin hosts Danville next Friday night. Trimble County (0-3) will have a bye week, before coming back to host Bardstown Bethlehem on Sept. 20.
