Southwestern's girls tennis team bounced back from its first loss of the season on Monday to defeat Scottsburg 4-1 on the road.
"Great win tonight after coming off our first loss of the season." Lady Rebels head coach Kenny Garrett said. "We responded really well."
Southwestern got two wins each in singles and doubles. No. 2 singles player Sarah Anderson picked up a victory in her match to remain unbeaten on the season at 13-0.
"Sarah battled a very good player in Lauren Howser who had only lost once on the season." Garrett noted. "They really went at it for two solid sets but Sarah had a little too much for her in the tiebreaker."
Results were: Singles - No. 1 Carmen Boley (S) d. Abbey Garrett (SW) 6-1, 6-0; No. 2 Sarah Anderson (SW) d. Lauren Howser (S) 6-7, 6-2, 10-6; No. 3 Cheyenne McKinley (SW) d. Alisha West (S) 6-0, 6-0; Doubles - No. 1 Jordan Worcester and Kearstin Bruther (SW) d. Amber McClain and Karissa Light (S) 6-0, 6-2; No. 2 Sydnie McKinley and Alex Drossart (SW) d. Kalley McClain and Katie Conder (S) 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.
Southwestern (12-1) hosts New Washington today.
