Southwestern’s golf team picked up a tri-meet win over Milan and South Ripley at Butler Falls Golf Course in Hanover on Tuesday.

The Rebels shot a 171 to easily beat Milan’s 206. With only three golfers, South Ripley did not field a complete team.

Hunter Mefford led the way for Southwestern with a 37 while Alex Phillip had a 42, Trent Colber carded a 43 and Sam Beverly shot a 49. Trenton Hadley shot a non-scoring 54.

Playing as individuals for the Rebels, Dylan Peck shot a 44, Isaiah Birchfield had a 47 and Camden Ashby a 54.

“It was a great night for golf. Perfect weather,” Southwestern coach David Bright said. “We had a couple kids struggle, one with a bad headache and one still learning how to deal with adversity, but overall we played pretty well. Alex shot his low round this year, and Trent has been ready to break out since we started. Tonight he got a shot and played in the five hole and turned in his lowest score yet.”

Southwestern returns to Butler Falls on Thursday when it hosts Shawe, New Washington and Jac-Cen-Del.
