Rebels 2nd in 4-way meet

Southwestern's girls golf team finished second in a four-way meet at Spring Hills Golf Course on Thursday.
South Ripley won the meet with a score of 226, Southwestern shot a 231 and Milan had a 242. Jac-Cen-Del did not field a complete team.
Kelsey Reeves led Southwestern with a 50, Beth Reno had a 56, Kyla Harsin had a 56 and Megan Morris had a 67.
Jac-Cen-Del's Sydney Keene was the medalist with a 46. Teammates Chasity McNew and Brooke Ronsheim each carded 67s.
Mackenzie Black led South Ripley with a 48. Taylor Wrightsman had a 56, Abigail Matthews had a 58 and Samantha Brandt a 64.
Kaitlin Stable led Milan with a 57, Haley Zorense had a 58, Kelley Smith had a 62 and Hannah Lewis had a 65.
Southwestern was scheduled to play Trinity Lutheran at the Seymour Country Club on Friday. The Rebels' next scheduled match is Monday North Branch Golf Course.
Lady Cubs beat Jeff
Madison claimed a dual meet girls golf win over Jeffersonville at the Elks Golf Course there on Tuesday.
The Lady Cubs shot a 187 while Jeffersonville couldn't field a complete team.
"We're working on concentrating on one shot at a time and that's a difficult thing for any golfer," Madison coach Dale Crafton said. "Amid the higher scores in this match were some really solid, good shots."
Madison junior Amanda Detmer shot a 38 to take medalist honors. Hannah Holt had a 45, Kyle Johnson carded a 50 and Carmen Velasco shot a 54.
In non-scoring rounds, LeAnn Fox had a 54, Abbi Wynn a 55 and Jordan Dean a 59.
Madison competes in the Fuzzy Zoeller Invitational at Covered Bridge Golf Course in Sellersburg today.
Owen beats Carroll, Trimble
Carroll County's boys golf team finished second in a three-way meet at Fairway Golf Course on Tuesday.
Owen County shot a 169, Carroll had a 190 and Trimble County a 196.
Clint Burgess led Carroll County with a 44 and Levi Stephenson had a 45.
Carroll County hosts Henry County on Tuesday.
