Southwestern volleyball closes out the regular season - it's eighth straight winning season - with a 3-0 loss at Christian Academy of Indiana on Thursday.

The Rebels battled CAI to a 25-20 loss in set one before falling 25-16, 25-14 in sets two and three.

"We played pretty well throughout the night against a very good CAI team," Southwestern coach Chris Johnson said. "They were by far better than us in the front row. They had strong hitters that we just could not match up against."

Karli Long had nine kills on 24 for 26 hitting, was 7 for 7 serving, and added five digs for the Rebels. Sarah Anderson had three digs, was 8 for 9 serving, and had three kills on six attempts and added 15 assists while Katie Conover had an ace on 10 for 11 serving and was 18 for 20 passing with 15 digs.

"I was happy with our defensive effort and our offense did a good job of staying aggressive against a good blocking team," Johnson said. "I was the most happy that we played consistently throughout the night. We didn't have a lot of the big ups and downs within the match like we have been battling lately."

Southwestern closed out the regular season with a 17-16 record for the program's eighth consecutive winning season. The Rebels will play Milan in the first round of Class 2A Sectional 45 tourney at 6 p.m. on Thursday at Delbert O. King Gym in Hanover.
