Rebels cut times in 25 events in sweep

Southwestern's swimmers posted 25 best times in a dual meet sweep Tuesday at home.
The Lady Rebels won nine events and swept the top three positions in six events en route to a team score of 122 points. Silver Creek had 14 points and Shawe tallied 12.
Southwestern had six wins in the boys meet and totaled 86 points. Silver Creek had 62 points.
"Nathan Anderson had a really strong 100 back. Rebekah Anderson, Nicholas Battjes, Ryan Furnish, and Dylan Truesdell, Zaynah Watson, and Meredith Webber each had best times in both of their individual events," Southwestern coach Shelly Hamilton said. "We'll mix events up one more time on Thursday before choosing sectional events.
"(Shawe's) Liz Grote dropped 38 seconds from her 500 free and three from her 100 breast," Hamilton added. "She continues to improve."
Picking up wins for the Southwestern girls were: Rebekah Anderson, 200 free, 2:30.21; Gianna Bennett, 200 IM, 2:35.97; Jordan Worcester, 50 free, 29.02 and 100 back, 1:12.68; Zaynah Watson, 100 fly, 1:26.55; Meredith Webber, 100 free, 1:09.67; Abby Brown, Elizabeth Scianni, Carol Osborn and Marisa Ebertshauser, 200 medley relay, 2:21.41; Sarah Schroeder, Cassidy Weaver, Watson and Sara Judge, 200 free relay; and Worcester, Webber, Bennett and Anderson, 400 free relay, 4:37.21.
Other top three finishes for Southwestern were: Webber, second, 200 free, 2:32.51; Judge, second, 50 free, 35.02; Weaver, second, 100 free, 1:12.58 and third, 100 back, 1:30.00; Anderson, second, 500 free, 6:49.75; Bennett, second, 100 breast, 1:20.30; Judge, Taylor Suthard, Jennah Butters and Julia Vazquez, second, 200 medley relay, 2:56.81; Ashley Truesdell, Butters, Osborn and Scianni, second, 200 free relay, 2:28.86; Watson, Weaver, Truesdell and Judge, second, 400 relay, 5:22.02; Watson, third, 200 free, 2:45.92; Suthard, third, 200 IM, 3:16.49 and third, 100 breast, 1:36.45; Truesdell, third, 50 free, 35.84 and third, 100 free, 1:21.61; Vazquez, third, 100 fly, 1:48.69; Osborn, third, 500 free, 7:37.39; Worcester, Bennett, Anderson and Webber, third, 200 medley relay, 3:34.56; Brown, Ebertshauser, Tiffany Williams and Vazquez, third, 200 free relay, 3:00.33; and Butters, Vazquez, Schroeder and Suthard, third, 400 free relay, 5:43.20.
Grote won both of her events. She took the 500-yard freestyle in 5:58.69 and the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:19.06.
Picking up wins for the Southwestern boys were: Nathan Anderson, 200 free, 2:18.75 and 100 back, 1:12.32; Travis Higham, 50 free, 28.11; Mitchel Swafford, 100 fly, 1:06.21; Jacob Shaffer, 500 free, 7:03.12; and Jacob Grayson, Anderson, Zachary Hamilton and Swafford, 400 free relay, 4:10.28.
Other top three finishes for the Rebels were: Ryan Furnish, second, 50 free, 29.22; Dylan Truesdell, second, 100 fly, 1:17.91 and third, 100 back, 1:21.80; Nicholas Battjes, second, 500 free, 7:11.54; Hamilton, second, 100 breast, 1:19.53 and third, 200 IM, 2:36.72; Anderson, Hamilton, Swafford and Furnish, second, 200 medley relay, 2:06.92; Higham, Furnish, Battjes and Grayson, second, 200 free relay. 2:03.13; Grayson, third, 200 free, 2:28.84 and third, 100 free, 1:06.29; and Battjes, Higham, Truesdell and Shaffer, third, 200 medley relay, 2:21.90.
Southwestern hosts Oldenburg and Salem on Thursday.
