Rebels swim third at Floyd Central Invitational

Southwestern and Switzerland County's swim teams both competed in the Floyd Central Invitational on Saturday.
Scores for each school reflected a combined score in both the boys and girls events. Southwestern placed third overall with 416 points while Switzerland County was eighth with 221. Floyd Central won the meet with an impressive 1,230 points while Meade County (Ky.) was second with 484.
Top finishes for the Southwestern girls were: Gianna Bennett, fifth, 100 free, 1:02.37 and fifth, 100 breast, 1:20.73; Jordan Worcester, Bennett, Rebekah Anderson and Meredith Webber, fifth, 200 medley relay, 2:17.99 and sixth, 4:30.95; Worcester, sixth, 200 free, 2:19.62 and sixth, 100 free, 1:02.50; Anderson, seventh, 200 IM, 2:45.85 and seventh, 100 fly, 1:14.35; and Sarah Schroeder, seventh, 100 back, 1:25.07.
Top finishes for the Southwestern boys were: Zachary Hamilton, fourth, 100 breast, 1:14.30 and fifth, 200 free, 2:15.02; Nathan Anderson, fifth, 500 free, 6:09.94 and fifth, 100 back, 1:12.69; Anderson, Hamilton, Dylan Truesdell and Jacob Shaffer, fifth, 200 medley relay, 2:08.89; Truesdell, sixth, 100 fly, 1:19.96; and Anderson, Nicholas Battjes, Shaffer and Hamilton, sixth, 400 free relay, 4:20.19.
Top finishes for the Switzerland boys were: Colton Penick, fifth, 200 IM, 2:31.32 and eighth, 100 breast, 1:19.23; Talen Taylor, Dakota Taylor, John Vogt and Penick, fifth, 400 free relay, 4:19.49; Talen Taylor, seventh, 200 free, 2:17.78 and seventh, 100 fly, 1:21.39; Dakota Taylor, seventh, 100 back, 1:20.23; and Dakota Taylor, Penick, Talen Taylor and Corey Proffitt, seventh, 200 medley relay, 2:15.57;
Top finishes for the Switzerland girls were: McKenna Edwards, ninth, 100 back, 1:26.22; Rachel Ard, Shelby Cole, Samantha Christerson and Megan Chitwood, 11th, 400 free relay, 5:36.37; Edwards, Cole, Christerson and Chitwood, 12th, 200 medley relay, 2:49.94; Chitwood, 12th, 50 free, 32.42; and Edwards, Cole, Ard and Chitwood, 12th, 200 free relay, 2:28.48.
Southwestern will be back in action on Jan. 7 when the Rebels host Batesville. Switzerland County's next meet will be Jan. 11 at Madison.
