Southwestern's wrestling team competed in the Fugate Memorial Tournament in Scottsburg over the weekend.

Austin Spray recorded the most victories for the Rebels by finishing 8-1 while Cory O'Neal was the only team wrestler to go undefeated at 5-0.

Noah Schuster picked up his first win of the year by pin and ended the weekend 5-4. Other impressive performances on the weekend came from Zach Abbott, Heath Harper, Jackson Gray and Cody Holman, each of which picked up four wins. Alex Marion and Matt Hedges also picked up wins.

Southwestern also had three team wins over Salem, Christian Academy and Switzerland County.

"The first day of the two-day event was rocky as some of our veterans got an eye opener. Hopefully this motivates them to step it up in the room," Southwestern coach Brandon Brawner said. "The biggest victory of the weekend was that we recorded three wins as a team ... I was very happy to pick up three wins as a team, being as young as we are and giving up 36 points in forfeits right off the bat. To be able to recover from forfeiting six weight classes speaks volumes to the strides we are making."

Southwestern travels to Charlestown on Wednesday.
