Southwestern's wrestlers battled illness and injury in a meet at New Albany on Saturday.
Cody Holman went undefeated for the Rebels while Austin Spray went 3-1 with his only loss coming to 10th-ranked Tyler Hupp of Indian Creek. Jordan Hattton, Josh Matteson, Zach Abbott and Noah Schuster also had wins for Southwestern.
"It's good for Cody to have a strong weekend going into next week's sectional," Southwestern coach Brandon Brawner said. "We knew that would be a good match for Austin. He has practically walked through this year untouched so it is nice to wrestle a quality kid to see where he falls. We'll have a chance to see him again at semistate and look to improve and have a different outcome.
"Next week is do or die and I hope the guys realize that and dig deep," Brawner added. "We don't want to be the ones in the stands eating popcorn watching everyone else extend their season."
The IHSAA sectional is Saturday at Jennings County.
