Rebs swim runner-up at Seymour

Southwestern's swim teams both placed second overall at the Seymour Invitational on Saturday.
The boys defeated Switzerland County 87-52, Salem 72-63 and Silver Creek 78-52 before falling to Seymour 128-51.
The girls beat Salem 93-70, Shawe 124-12, Silver Creek 114-35 and Switzerland County 111-41. The Lady Rebels lost to Seymour 131-49.
"We had 16 best times at this meet," Southwestern coach Shelly Hamilton said. "We changed some events around to get times in different events for some people and were pleasantly surprised."
Gianna Bennett picked up Southwestern's lone win on the day when she was first in the girls 100-yard breaststroke in 1:10.17.
Shawe's Liz Grote, her team's lone swimmer, won the girls 100-yard butterfly in 1:06.65 and was third in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:13.46. Shawe lost all five of its team meets.
Other top finishes for the Southwestern girls were: Bennett, second, 200 IM, 2:37.91; Jordan Worcester, second, 500 free, 6:17.52 and fourth, 200 free, 2:16.12; Lakin Henderson, second, 100 breast, 1:20.15 and third, 100 fly, 1:14.84; Meredith Webber, Bennett, Henderson and Rebekah Anderson, third, 200 medley relay, 2:23.26; Worcester, Bennett, Henderson and Jennah Butters, fourth, 400 free relay, 4:34.86; Webber, fifth, 50 free, 31.58 and fifth, 100 free, 1:13.07; Carol Osborn, fifth, 500 free, 7:33.29; and Sara Judge, Butters, Osborn and Kaitlyn Deskins, fifth, 200 free, 2:24.89.
Other top finishes for the Southwestern boys were: Nathan Anderson, second, 200 free, 2:17.98 and fourth, 100 back, 1:16.58; Anderson, Dylan Truesdell, Mitchel Swafford and Zachary Hamilton, second, 400 free, 400 free relay, 4:16.19; Swafford, third, 100 fly, 1:05.80; Hamilton, third, 100 breast, 1:17.37; Anderson, Hamilton, Swafford and Travis Higham, fourth, 200 medley relay, 2:03.93; Jacob Grayson, fifth, 200 free, 2:30.54; Truesdell, fifth, 50 free, 27.94 and fifth, 100 fly, 1:21.67; Ryan Furnish, Truesdell, Grayson and Higham, fifth, 200 free, 1:58.15; and Higham, Grayson, Furnish and Jacob Shaffer, fifth, 400 free, 4:48.86.
No results for Switzerland County were available.
