Southwestern soccer played conference rival Rising Sun to a 1-1 tie in a match played on a very wet field Friday night in Rising Sun.
Both teams had opportunities during the drier first half of the game but neither could get clean shots through the opponent's defense. The half ended in a scoreless tie.
Southwestern coach Dave Bramer said the rain became more intense in the second half and both teams had to make adjustments to the conditions.
The Shiners broke through first when Jake Uhlmansiek took a leading pass and got through the Rebels' defense for the first goal of the night with about 20 minutes gone in the second half.
The Rebels answered about five minutes later when Coleman Jackson scored on a free kick to knot the game 1-1.
There were a few goal scoring opportunities for both teams down the stretch but neither team could break through.
Southwestern (8-2-2 Overall and 6-1-2 ORVC) returns to action Monday when they visit Switzerland County.
