Shawe Memorial boys basketball picked up its second win in as many nights 57-40 at New Washington on Saturday.

The Hilltoppers' defense held the Mustangs in check all night. Shawe led 24-18 at halftime, outscored the hosts 16-6 in the third and led by as many as 23 before settling into the 17-point final margin.

"Taylor Rhoten did a great job for us establishing a presence inside and opened up a lot of opportunities for others," Shawe coach Matt Traylor said. "We were able to bother New Washington with pressure and attacked the rim off steals and transition."

Luke Higgins had 15 points, three assists and two steals to lead the Hilltoppers. David Grote had 11 points, five rebounds, five steals and three assists. Joey Mingione had 11 points, six rebounds and two steals. Rhoten had 11 points and four rebounds.

Shawe (5-8) hosts Jac-Cen-Del on Friday.
