Switzerland County's girls basketball lost at Class A No. 14 New Washington 48-33 on Saturday.

The Pacers played even with the Mustangs in the first quarter and trailed only 22-17 at halftime. New Washington increased its lead to 10 by the end of the third and put the game away in the fourth.

"I'm very proud of our effort and I look forward to our future games if we play like we did today," Switzerland coach Ashley Chase said.

Mercedes Parham led the Pacers with eight points while Eve Galbreath scored six.

Caroline Ricks had 21 points and 14 rebounds for New Washington (12-2).

Switzerland (6-9) hosts Jac-Cen-Del on Tuesday.
