Another day, another round of postponements for local high schools and their athletic teams.
Every event on the calendar Thursday except for Madison's wrestling meet at New Washington was postponed as the area dealt with the ongoing effects of a winter storm system that hit two days earlier.
Many of the events have already been rescheduled. Shawe's girls basketball game at Rising Sun will be played on Jan. 30 and Switzerland County's girls basketball home contest with Oldenburg was moved to Feb. 8.
Southwestern's girls basketball game at South Ripley has been moved to Saturday at 7:30 p.m. In addition, the Lady Rebels' home game with Rising Sun - which was postponed from Tuesday to Wednesday and then postponed again - will now be played on Feb. 1 as part of a homecoming quadruple header along with the boys' regularly-scheduled game with Clarksville. The girls junior varsity game will kick off the day starting at 2:30 p.m. Homecoming festivities will be in between the boys junior varsity and varsity games at around 7 p.m.
The All "A" Classic Eighth Region boys basketball tourney games at Eminence - originally scheduled for Wednesday and then postponed to Thursday - will now be played today as part of a tripleheader. Carroll County will face Gallatin County at 4 p.m. with Trimble County playing Walton-Verona at 6 p.m. Owen County will then face Williamstown at 8 p.m. The small gym at Eminence will be cleared after each game and fans will have to pay separately for all three games if they wish to stay.
Madison's swim meet at South Dearborn and Southwestern's home swim meets were also both postponed. Carroll County's home girls basketball game with Trimble County was postponed and no make-up date has been announced.
In addition to events on Thursday, one game for today has already been postponed. Switzerland County's boys basketball contest at Rising Sun has been called off and no make-up date has been announced at this time.
