Weather postpones more local games

Yet another round of winter weather canceled every local event on the sports calendar on Tuesday.
Five girls basketball games and one swim meet were affected as well as a whole slate of junior high and middle school events.
Three of the girls basketball games have already been rescheduled. Southwestern's Ohio River Valley Conference showdown with Rising Sun will be played tonight. Shawe's game at Trinity Lutheran will be played on Wednesday, Jan. 29. Switzerland County's ORVC matchup at Jac-Cen-Del will be on Saturday, Feb. 1 with a noon junior varsity start.
No rescheduled dates were announced for Carroll County's game at Cooper or Madison's contest at Scottsburg. In Madison's case, the school is still trying to find a date for the game against Corydon that was postponed on Saturday and it is unlikely that it will be able to make up both.
The cancellations also affected games for later in the week. The All "A" Classic Boys Eighth Region Tournament at Eminence has been pushed back a day due to the weather. Carroll County's game against Gallatin County and Trimble County's contest against Walton-Verona will now be played on Thursday at 6 and 8 p.m., respectively.
Because of the small size of Eminence's gym, it will be cleared after the first game and fans will be readmitted for the second game. Anyone arriving for the first game will have to also pay for game two.
The postponement of the All "A" Classic game could also affect the Carroll County-Trimble County girls basketball game which is scheduled for Thursday night. No determination on that game has been made as of yet.
Along with Southwestern's girls game with Rising Sun, the other events on the schedule for tonight are Hanover College men's basketball hosting Rose-Hulman, Hanover women's basketball at Rose-Hulman and Switzerland County wrestling hosting Milan and Salem.
