Roy Less Canine Sr., 79, of Carrollton, Ky., died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, at his residence.
He was born June 1, 1929, in Shelbyville, Ky., the son of Roy Canine and Elizabeth Ellison. He attended Lincoln Institute in Shelby County, Ky. He was a factory worker and had worked with C & N Railroad and for Kentucky Ladder.
He is survived by his wife, Jenny Gibson White Canine; five children, Roxanne Canine of Louisville, Ky., and Vickie Canine, Lester Canine, Elizabeth Canine and Cathy Jones, all of Carrollton, Ky.; and one granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by one son, Roy Canine Jr., and one daughter, Becky Ellis.
The funeral was scheduled for 11 a.m. today at Graham-Dunn Funeral Home in Carrollton, Ky. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton, Ky.
Visitation was Sunday at the funeral home.

Charles Meyer
Charles Edward Meyer, 82, of Scottsburg, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008, at Clark Memorial Hospital.
He graduated from Jeffersonville High School in 1945 and Indiana University in 1950. He was a three-year varsity basketball letter winner at Jeffersonville and a four-year varsity basketball letter winner at Indiana University. He was a member of the 1950 Indiana Collegiate All-Star team. He coached basketball at Scottsburg High School from 1950-1961, winning four consecutive sectionals and one regional, and was inducted into the Indiana High School Basketball Hall of Fame in 1986. He retired from Scott County District 2 in 1991 as a school teacher, transportation director and coach. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the American Legion Post 234, Scottsburg Lodge 572 F & AM (32nd degree), Indiana State Retired Teachers Association, retired Scottsburg volunteer fireman, and I-Men's Association. Other honors included Sagamore of the Wabash and Kentucky Colonel. He enjoyed spending his summers with family and friends at Hanover Beach.
He is survived by four children, Steve Meyer of Scottsburg, Ed Meyer of Jeffersonville, Debbi Rademacher of Memphis and Kyle Meyer of Port Orange, Fla.; one sister, Sarah Kaufman of Jeffersonville; 12 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Newell Antz Meyer; and two brothers, Robert and Carl Meyer.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Charles E. Meyer Gymnasium in Scottsburg. Burial will be in Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Scottsburg United Methodist Church.

William Ransdell
William F. Ransdell, 77, of Bedford, Ky., died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008, at Baptist Hospital Northeast in La Grange, Ky.
He was born Feb. 27, 1931, in Henry County, Ky., the son of Charles Ecton Ransdell and Thelma Mattick Gividen. He was a graduate of Henry Central High School and on Sept. 20, 1957, he graduated from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and worked in graves registration as an embalmer for 18 months during the war. He was a licensed funeral director and embalmer, and owned Ransdell Funeral Home in Bedford, Ky., for over 40 years. He had also owned Ransdell Funeral Home locations in Campbellsburg, Ky., and Eminence, Ky. He served as the Trimble County coroner for over 30 years and held many other positions in the community. He was a member of the Bedford Baptist Church, Bedford Masonic Lodge 158, Scottish Rite, Bedford Shrine Club, Bedford Rotary Club, Henry County D.A.V., Carroll County American Legion and the Funeral Directors Association of Kentucky, where he recently received his 50-year pin. He enjoyed fishing, working in the garden and going on trips with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Betty L. Pyles Ransdell; one son, Charles Ransdell of Versailles, Ky.; one daughter, Frederica Ransdell Congleton of Bedford, Ky.; two brothers, Joseph Ransdell and Parkie Gividen; two sisters, Mary Ransdell Austin and Alice Archibeck; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Gladys Ransdell, and Thelma M. Gividen.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bedford Baptist Church, 1425 U.S. 42 East, Bedford, Ky. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Bedford, Ky. Military honors will be conducted graveside.
Friends may call at the church from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the service. The Scottish Rite will conduct a service at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church. A Masonic service will be follow at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Bedford Baptist Church Building Fund or Kosair Charities. Contribution cards are available at the church.

Gerald Schoolcraft
Gerald "Gary" Schoolcraft, 64, of Salem, died Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at Meadow View Health Care Center in Salem.
He was born May 31, 1944 in Madison, the son of Elbert William and Virginia Maxine West Schoolcraft. He was in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a former truck driver for the Washington County Highway Department in Salem. He attended Mill Creek Baptist Church in Salem.
He is survived by his wife, Ida E. Tarter Schoolcraft, whom he married July 20, 1972; one son, Terrence Schoolcraft of Salem; two daughters, Patience Williamson of Jacksonville, Fla., and Misty Walker of Salem; one stepson, Darrell Burkett of Mitchell; one stepdaughter, Linda Burress of New Albany; two sisters, Marcella Mowery of Madison and Debbie Scott of Boonesville, Ky.; four grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, William Schoolcraft; and one sister, Luanne Hall.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg. Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery near Chelsea. Military honors will be conducted graveside.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 1:30 p.m. until the service.
