Looking Ahead items must be in writing and hand-carried, mailed, faxed or e-mailed to The Madison Courier at least two weeks before the date of the activity, meeting or event. Special Events

TASC Testing: Formerly GED, will be held Jan. 27 and Jan. 29 at Madison Consolidated High School. Pre-registration is required. For more information or to register call (812) 265-6672.

Computer Help: The Carroll County Public Library offers walk-in computer help and tutoring Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. Call (502) 732-7020 and ask for Sheila or email sheila@carrollcountylibrary.org to set up an appointment.

GED Help: Will be offered at 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Carroll County Public Library.

Homework Help: Will be offered at 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Carroll County Public Library.

ESL Class: Will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Carroll County Public Library.

Walk Away the Pounds: Daily at 9 a.m. at the Carroll County Public Library.

Zumba: Will meet at 5:15 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the Carroll County Public Library.

January 13

Jefferson County Republican Women: Will meet at 6 p.m. at Franco's, 119 E. Main St. The group will plan its annual Great Chill-i Out. All Republican women are welcome. For more information call (812) 216-7801 or (812) 493-4013.

January 14

Carroll County Chamber Membership: Will meet at noon at the General Butler State Resort Park Lodge.

NARFE: Chapter 1677 of the National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees will meet at noon at Ponderosa Steak House. All federal retirees, active federal employees, postal employees and their guests are welcome.

January 15

CAFFE: Carrollton Area Families for Education will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesdays at the Carroll County Public Library.

Lego Mania: Will be held starting at 3:30 p.m. at the Carroll County Public Library.

January 16

Moving for Better Health: The free senior exercise class will meet from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursdays at the Lide White Boys and Girls Club/Family and Community Center. For more information call (812) 273-1072.

Ohio Valley Opportunities Board of Directors: Will meet at 4:30 p.m. at the OVO Administration Office, 421 Walnut St. For more information or to be included on the agenda call (812) 265-5858.

Relay for Life Kick-Off: Will be held at 6 p.m. at Ivy Tech Community College.

Support Group: Will meet every Thursday at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 1429 Clifty Drive, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The free spiritually-based group supports those struggling with depression, fear, anxiety, suicidal thoughts and grief. For more information call (502) 468-6316.

January 17

CCPL Board: Will meet at noon at the Carroll County Public Library.

Knit and Crochet: Gather to knit and crochet or get help from others at 3:30 p.m. at the Carroll County Public Library.

Freethinkers Book Club: Will meet at 6 p.m. on the third Friday of the month at Village Lights Bookstore.

Senior Dance: Will be held Friday by the Madison Parks Department at the Brown Gym featuring the music of Gary Hewitt and the Honky Tonk Band. The doors open at 5 p.m. Music begins at 6 p.m. Admission is $3.50 per person.

No More Cutting: A support group for girls from junior high to college who struggle with depression, fear, anxiety and suicidal thoughts will meet every Friday at the Eggleston Community Building, 419 East St., from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The group is spiritually-based and non-denominational. January 18

Magic Tournament: Will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Carroll County Public Library.

Comedy Caravan: Will be at the Madion Consolidated High School's Opal E. Sherman Auditorium at 7 p.m. The show will feature host Billy Goldsmith, Jacob Williams and headliner Mack Dryden, along with special guest Greg Ison, Madison Junior High School teacher. Advance tickets are available at River Valley Financial Bank on Clifty Drive for $10. Tickets will be $12 at the door.All proceeds go to Madison Bands.

January 19

MLK Jr. Program: Christ Temple Community Church, 420 E. First St., will host a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. program at 4 p.m. They keynote speaker will be Dr. Adrienne Clark, a new veterinarian who is new Madison. They will also have guest music. The program is scheduled to last approximately 90 minutes.

January 20

MLK Jr. Annual Program: Trinity United Methodist Church will host the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. program with Fred King of Christ Temple Church as the speaker. A video will be shown at 11:30 a.m. followed by the service from noon to 1 p.m. A light lunch will be served following the service with a limited number of to-go bags for those who need to return to work.

Court Street Cinemas: Will show "Lee Daniels' The Butler" at 6 p.m. at the Carroll County Public Library. The film is rated PG13.

Freethinkers Coffee and Conversation: Will meet at 7 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of the month at Mumbles.

January 21

Carroll County Community Development Corporation: Will meet at noon at the General Butler State Resort Park Conference Center's Kentucky Room. The meeting is open to the public. The price of the meal is $19. For more information or to make a reservation call (502) 732-7035.

January 22

Starting and Growing Your Small Business: The Carroll County Community Development Corporation will offer classes for those considering opening their own business or current business owners that want to grow their business. The six-week, two-hour class will meet at 6 p.m. at the Carroll County Public Library. Registration is $25.
