Peggy Vlerebome Courier Staff Writer
Molly Dattilo made a call from a pay telephone around 11 p.m. the day she disappeared, three of her sisters disclosed on a nationally broadcast television program Wednesday.
The call was made from a gas station on Crawfordsville Road in Indianapolis to a friend of Dattilo's, her sister, Kendra Skidmore, said in a statement.
The story of Dattilo's disappearance was included in a series of reports about missing people shown Wednesday on the "Maury" television show.
"The phone was answered but all that could be heard was the click of the caller's phone being hung up," Skidmore's press release said. "Since the pay phone call came in on the day of Molly's disappearance, family members have suspected that it could have been Molly.
"It has been verified by police that it was Molly who made that call. Our family believes that Molly was somehow in danger and that the call was interrupted in her attempt to get help, and that for whatever reason she was not able to complete the call," Skidmore said in her statement.
The Marion County Sheriff's Department investigator in Indianapolis who is handling the Dattilo case could not be reached.
Dattilo was last seen on July 6, 2004.
A $100,000 reward, offered by an anonymous donor, is still valid. The reward is for the location of Dattilo and the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for her disappearance.
Dattilo planned to attend her fifth year at Eastern Kentucky University in the fall of 2004.
When she disappeared she was living with her brother in Indianapolis while taking summer classes at Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis.
One of those classes was a voice class meant to help prepare her for an upcoming audition for "American Idol." The weekend before she disappeared she told her sister that she was preparing for the audition in August and that she planned to attend her nephew's birthday party later in July.
She also spoke of her desire to get a summer job to keep the car her father purchased for her so that she had transportation to the "American Idol" auditions.

I hope you find Molly soon. My 75-year-old father has been missing for six weeks so I know the anguish you are feeling. You are in my prayers.

I saw your story on Maury and truly hope you find Molly. I live about 40 minutes south of EKU. I have thought alot about Molly since seeing the show. We lost our daughter at 3 1/2 months old 5 years ago and I wish that no other parent would ever have to bury their child. I will continue to pray for your entire family and especially Molly!!!
