Cloud has established the Greg Cloud Memorial Endowment at the Community Foundation of Madison and Jefferson County in tribute to her husband. Greg Cloud was a volunteer firefighter who was killed Nov. 1, 2006, while fighting a house fire at Little King Farm, a miniature horse farm in the Kent area, in November.
Melinda Cloud has designated that annual grants from the endowment be used to provide training and equipment for Jefferson County volunteer fire companies.
Anyone can donate any amount to the fund at any time.
"We at the foundation are honored that Mindy chose to remember her husband through the Greg Cloud Memorial Endowment," said Louise Markel, president and CEO of the foundation. "She is doing a wonderful thing, assisting our brave volunteers by providing training and equipment to help them do their jobs more safely. And with this fund Mindy and Greg will make a difference in other people's lives for a long time, because endowments are forever."
