Two newcomers join Carrollton council
Two of the vacant Carrollton City Council seats were filled Tuesday night by newcomers Adam Raker and Tammy Miller McBurney. Incumbent members Kevin Craig, Mike Gordon, Nancy Jo Grobmyer and Dean Miller Jr. will be returning this January to the council.

Familiar face to return to Bedford City Commission
The Bedford City Commission will welcome back a familiar face to the Morgan Community Center. Former commissioner Todd Pollock will fill one of the four seats available during Tuesday night's election.

Gray, Burress win seats at S'western
Jodi Gray unseated Southwestern School Board President Teresa Scrogham in the race for the Republican Township seat on the board. Gray received 69.42 percent of the 2,979 votes cast.

Lytle, Schaum win seats on MCS Board
Incumbent Andy Lytle and newcomer Carl Schaum received more votes than incumbent John Hutchinson and five other candidates to win the two rural representation seats on the Madison Consolidated Schools board.

Schaum said he feels that all of his hard work of being an educator for 33 years has paid off.

Greene to be next treasurer
Democrat Linda Greene beat Republican Bob Cooke by more than 9 percentage points in the race for Jefferson County treasurer. Three other Democrats won county offices in unopposed elections.

Frazier is new Superior Court judge
Alison Frazier was the only Republican to win a Jefferson County seat in the 2008 general election. Frazier overtook Democrat Michael J. Hensley by the slimmest margin of any county race to win the judgeship of Jefferson Superior Court.

Cheatham defeats Coates in 69th Dist.
Dave Cheatham easily won re-election Tuesday to the District 69 seat in the Indiana House of Representatives. Cheatham, a Democrat from North Vernon, beat Republican Floyd Coates of Lexington, 70 percent to 30 percent.

Incumbents returned to County Council at-large seats
When the election was over, Democratic incumbents won the Jefferson County Council at-large seats. Although voters could cast ballots for three candidates of the six who were running for the seats, regardless of party, all three Democratic incumbents prevailed.

Berry retains middle district seat
Democrat Julie Berry, the incumbent middle district county commissioner, won by the largest margin of any Jefferson County race in the 2008 general election.
