The Jefferson County Exploratory Jail Committee in an informational session Thursday evening heard from a representative of Garmong Construction Services, one of the companies that worked on the feasibility study for a new Jefferson County Jail with design firm RQAW and HWC Engineering.

The session centered around a presentation comparing a few types of project delivery methods: via construction manager as constructor, via construction manager as agent and design-bid-build.

The presentation broke down the differences in who holds the risk and has to assume all responsibility of the project, who represents the owner’s interest, who is involved in pre-construction decisions, schedule control and more between the three methods.

The committee will have more informational meetings next week at 5:30 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday at the Jefferson County Courthouse.

Committee member and County Commissioner David Bramer said the committee wants to hear from a variety of people and sources before making their decision on a project delivery method. Jail Committee meetings are open to the public.
