Guntersville Lake Hydrofest

June 22-24, Guntersville, Alabama

Boat racing returns to Lake Guntersville, Alabama, bringing back one of the oldest and most popular tourism events held on the 69,000-acre reservoir. The weekend also will feature the Grand Prix World hydros, stock outboard racing as well as a wakeboard exhibition.

Indiana Governor’s Cup

July 6-8, Madison

The city’s annual Madison Regatta features Unlimited and Grand Prix class hydroplane racing. The summer festival, held every year around the July fourth holiday, also features a parade, fireworks, a 10K walk/run and live music. This will be the 68th year for the event, which is one of the oldest sporting events in the state of Indiana.

Columbia Cup

July 27-29, Kennewick, Washington

Started in 1966, the HAPO Columbia Cup brings fans to the shores of the Columbia River for three days of racing on one of the fastest courses on the circuit.


Aug. 3-5, Seattle, Washington

One of the most popular events of the summer-long Seafair Festival in Seattle, Washington is the Albert Lee Appliance Cup, which is on Lake Washington. The same weekend, in a tradition restarted in 1972, the Blue Angels perform aerial stunts over the lake between races.

Gold Cup

Aug. 24-26, Detroit, Michigan

The APBA Gold Cup is the oldest trophy in all of the motorsports and is literally the “gold standard” for the sport. The Detroit River-course combines the widest and tightest turns on the Unlimited circuit.


Sept. 14-16, San Diego, California

In existence since 1964, San Diego Bayfair showcases three days of hydroplanes racing on the wind-protected waters of Mission Bay on a 2-1/2 mile course, which is one of the sport’s speedways.
