Another major development project for Madison — this time on the hilltop — was made public this afternoon. The City of Madison Redevelopment Commission met to approve a resolution to begin funding processes for Riverton to develop the long-abandoned Cotton Mill site into a hotel project on the riverfront. That project was announced late in January.

The surprise today was the addition of money to fund turning the site of the also long-abandoned Williamson Heater Co. at Indiana 7 and Clifty Drive into a new factory for Armor Plastics.

The commission approved the resolution, which states they are OK with the city beginning the process to issue $8 million worth of bonds to help the developers of the two projects.

The resolution is expected to go to the Feb. 19 city council meeting.
