A large dog was struck by an ambulance on north U.S. 421 south of the roundabout Thursday morning and lay covered under a cloth on the roadside. Motorists saw something under a sheet as the rain fell and contacted The Madison Courier, concerned that someone had been hit on the roadway. That concern was heightened by an EMS vehicle stopped beside the scene along with other vehicles. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said the dog was taken to a local veterninary office for treatment. We will try to provide more details if we are able to obtain them.
