Main Street merchants plan to stay open just a little longer for Fourth Friday activities and specials.

The Fourth Friday Art Jam highlights the arts scene with music, art and extended shopping hours in the downtown area. Downtown art galleries also host extended hours during the event.

Musicians plan performances at many Main Street businesses during Fourth Friday events.

The Little Golden Fox plans to host Emma Ernst and Gregg Martin at 402 Broadway, from 5 to 8 p.m. The store's owner Cara Fox said the musicians will most likely play on the sidewalk during the sidewalk sales during the evening, weather permitting.

Gallery 115 plans to host bluegrass music performers, Just Us Guys, from 7 to 9 p.m. Galena Garlic Company, 317 W. Main St., will also host a live music event with Dave Dwyer from 5 to 8 p.m. John Sheckler will perform at the gazebo near the Main Street parking lot as well.

For the April Fourth Friday events, Ditto's on Main, 229 E. Main St., will host a "Grandest Opening" from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Live music by pianist Leonard Miller will take place from noon to 8 p.m., and door prizes and refreshments will also be part of the day's events.

The Madison Apothecary, 835 W. Main St., will host a wine-tasting event for visitors age 21 and older.

Village Lights Bookstore, 110 E. Main St., plans to host a Poetry Open Mic night from 7 to 8 p.m. The event will be emceed by Jill Kelly Koren.

"Sometimes there's a couple of people, sometimes there's a half dozen," bookstore co-owner Nathan Montoya said.

Poets are welcome to sign up and read some of their own works or something from the shelves of the bookstore.
