Elaina Freeman is the new executive director of Ohio Valley Opportunities Inc.

Freeman has managed and operated various programs in Indiana for the past 20 years. Her background includes administering program services for at-risk youth, adult basic education, income insecure households and providing employment advocacy for workers with disabilities.

Freeman most recently served as the grants manager for the Mid-America Science Park in Scottsburg.

She holds a bachelor's degree from Indiana University and is a member of the National Honor Society in Psychology.

"I am honored to be part of an organization with such a rich history in providing quality services to communities in Jennings, Jefferson and Scott counties. Ohio Valley Opportunities has been meeting community needs since 1965 and I look forward to a long tenure with the organization," Freeman said in a news release.

Freeman replaces Barbara Marion, who retired on Dec. 31 after 30 years with the agency.

In addition to being the executive director, Marion served as OVO's energy assistance and weatherization director, section 8 director, housing and community services director.
