Prince of Peace Catholic Schools will host its largest fundraiser of the year on Feb. 16 at the Lide White Boys and Girls Club.

The auction dinner is in its 23rd year. This event's theme is "Puttin' on the Ritz." The gym at the Boys and Girls Club will be transformed into a swinging 1920s-era ball room. There will even be big-band style music from "The Madisonians" throughout the night.

The evening will include dinner, a live and silent auction, cash bar and a reverse draw. Two hundred tickets are being sold at $200 a piece. The last ticket drawn will win $10,000. Raffle tickets are available at the Catholic Community Center.

Individual tickets are $25. There are also three sponsorship opportunities available at $500, $1,000 and $5,000.

"The raffle's a big draw. It's kind of become a staple. That's a big fundraiser for us," school president Phil Kahn said.

"There was a big push. A lot of people wanted to get dressed up and have a nice evening," said Patti Grote, development director for Prince of Peace. "We were really surprised how many people got so into it."

"It was surprising to find 400 people in our community to, not only buy a ticket, but who wanted to come and to dress up. It made it really fun," she said.

Last year, 480 people registered for the event, and the Catholic school group was able to raise more than $80,000. Grote said she's hoping for more this year.

"There's just something for everybody. It's a fun night out," she said.
