A classic musical comedy production featuring well-known Broadway scores is now on stage at Derby Dinner Playhouse.

"Singin' in the Rain" takes theatergoers back to 1920s Hollywood during the days of "talkies." The musical production features big Broadway tap number, hilarious situations and rain on the stage. Audience members sitting close to the stage will be given rain ponchos to keep dry during the production, a Derby Dinner Playhouse release said.

The comedy will be at the Clarksville theater venue, 525 Marriott Drive, until May 18.

The production is based on the MGM classic film featuring Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds and Donald O'Connor. The light-hearted romantic comedy is adapted for the stage by Betty Camden and Adolph Green, a release said.

"Singin' in the Rain" features a musical score by Nacio Herb Brown and Arthur Freed. Other songs include "Good Morning," "Make 'Em Laugh," "Broadway Melody," "You Stepped Out of a Dream," and the title song, "Singin' in the Rain."

The "Singin' in the Rain" cast includes: Justin Ostergard, Matthew Brennan, Kayla Peabody, Jillian Prefach, J.R. Stuart, Paul Kerr, Elizabeth Loos, Cami Glauser, Lem Jackson, Kyle Braun, Josh Levinson, Kevin Crain, Zach Boone, Paul McElroy, Jordan Cyphert, John Vessels, Sara King, Brittany Carricato, Christie Dabreau and Meggie Siegrist.
