The Indiana Repertory Theatre's annual tradition of bringing a holiday favorite to Indianapolis returns during December.

Charles Dickens' classic "A Christmas Carol," returns with Ebenezer Scrooge, the heartless businessman who discovers the true meaning of the holiday season after visits from three spirits during his dreams Christmas Eve.

"We are thrilled to present this time-honored holiday tradition each year - for us and for our audiences," Janet Allen, the theater's artistic director, said in a release. "'A Christmas Carol' has truly become a favorite for our actors, our staff and for the families who experience this production - an experience we hope they will remember for years to come."

The production features Dickens' beloved characters of Tiny Tim, Bob Cratchit and the three spirits, which are played by many returning actors.

Performances take place at the Indiana Repertory Theatre's mainstage, 140 W. Washington St., Thursday and Friday beginning at 7 p.m. The play takes the stage twice on Saturday at 3 and 7 p.m., Sunday at 2 and 5 p.m. and Monday at 1 and 4 p.m. Tickets range from $30 to $55, and tickets may be purchased by calling the Indiana Repertory Theater ticket office at (317) 635-5252.
