A Carroll County man's attempt to rob a bank ended quickly Saturday. He didn't even make it out of the bank.

Kentucky State Police say Corey Washburn, 21, of Carrollton, robbed a Henry County bank Saturday after he saw a bank customer making a large transaction at the counter.

Washburn was arrested by KSP and charged with robbery after taking money from the United Citizens Bank in New Castle.

Washburn was standing behind another customer at a teller's window while a transaction with a large amount of money was taking place, a KSP release said.

Washburn reached over the customer's shoulder, grabbed the cash from the counter and attempted to run. The customer grabbed Washburn as he dashed with the cash, pushed him against a wall and held him there until police arrived at the scene.

Washburn was charged with robbery in the first degree.

He remains lodged at the Shelby County Detention Center.
